SIA IN SCHOOLS
LET US HELP PREPARE YOUR STUDENTS FOR THE FUTURE
The School of Interactive Arts (SIA) offers two ways for you to bring our programming to your schools. If you'd like to inquire about bringing one of our programs to your school, you can submit a request through our School Inquiry form below.
Want to get your students excited about computer science in the most engaging way possible? Then SIA Experience is for you! This program can be conducted at your school, virtually, or at our office in Flatiron should a school want to take a field trip (in-person events depend on social distancing guidelines). SIA Experience is a fun and engaging program that introduces your students to game design and helps them learn about potential careers in the field of computer science. This immersive experience runs for an hour to an hour and a half and is open to all high school students and also for 8th grade middle school students.
Looking for ways to increase diversity and enrollment in your school's computer science offerings? SIA Classroom uses video game design to help students in 8th to 10th grade learn computer science concepts and develop a greater interest in computer science education and careers. Students enjoy an interactive 20-hour curriculum that teaches them to design their own video game level. With support from our highly skilled game design instructors, teachers can use our game design curriculum as a teaching tool to help students learn computational thinking, program syntax, and programming concepts. Our goal in SIA Classroom is to boost students’ confidence in their ability to engage computer science courses in high school and college. SIA Classroom is supported by a US DOE Education, Innovation, and Research (EIR) grant. Download our SIA Classroom flyer to learn more!
